Business waste is not household waste, legally or practically. You have a duty of care, you need a written description of what you produce, and you need a contractor who turns up on the day they said. We work with shops, offices, pubs, salons, workshops, warehouses and sites across Cheshire and Merseyside on terms that flex when your business does.

Any waste produced by a business is commercial waste, even if it looks exactly like household waste. That means it cannot go in a domestic bin, it cannot go to a household recycling centre, and you cannot take it home. What it does mean is a duty of care: you must store it safely, transfer it only to an authorised person, and keep a written description of it.
In practice that comes down to two documents — a waste transfer note for each collection (or an annual one for regular collections of the same waste), and your contractor's carrier registration. We provide both as standard and keep copies, so if the Environment Agency or your local authority asks, you are not hunting through emails from eighteen months ago.
Most businesses we take on are paying for the wrong thing — either a bin that goes out half empty every week, or one that overflows by Thursday and leaves bags stacked next to it, which is exactly what attracts a fixed penalty. We start by looking at what you actually generate over a normal fortnight and size it to that, then review it once we have real data from a few collections.
If your volumes are seasonal, say so. A café that doubles its trade over summer or a retailer whose cardboard triples in the run-up to Christmas should not be paying peak rates in February.
Cardboard is the big one for most businesses. Flattened and kept dry, it is genuinely valuable and separating it usually reduces your overall cost rather than adding to it. Dry mixed recycling — clean paper, card, plastic bottles, cans — is the next easiest win. Glass matters for pubs and restaurants. Food waste needs its own stream and specific handling.
We will tell you honestly which separations are worth the effort for your business and which are not. Splitting four streams in a shop with one small yard and no space usually is not, and we would rather you had a system your staff will actually follow than an elaborate one they will not.
We supply and rent wheelie bins from 240 litres up to 1100 litre four-wheel containers, plus front-end loaders for higher-volume sites. See commercial bin rental for sizes and details. The practical constraint is usually not the bin, it is the access — a 1100 litre bin needs a flat, unobstructed route to where the wagon can stand. We will look at that before we quote rather than discovering it on the first collection.
Regular ongoing waste wants a bin and a schedule. One-off events — a refit, a clear-out, a change of use, a stock disposal — want a skip or a clearance. Plenty of our commercial customers use both, and there is no reason a scheduled agreement should stop you booking a one-off skip when you need one.
