Skip Hire & Waste Clearance in St Helens

St Helens is well inside our patch. We run 2, 4, 6 and 8 yard skips across WA9, WA10, WA11, handle house and garden clearances, and take on trade waste for builders and businesses in the area. We are about 11 miles away in Runcorn — roughly 25 minutes with the wagon loaded. Everything is quoted up front — no vague "from" prices that change when the wagon turns up.

  • From £122.50 delivered to St Helens
  • WA9, WA10, WA11 postcodes
  • St Helens Borough Council permits handled

What delivery to St Helens costs.

St Helens sits 11 miles out, which is 1 miles past our free 10-mile radius. That adds £2.50 to whichever size you pick (£2.50 per mile). It is shown as its own line in your quote — we do not bury it.

Local knowledge that actually matters

St Helens has a big stock of Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Parr, Sutton and Thatto Heath, interwar semis through Eccleston and Windle, and newer estates on the edges. Terraced streets and back entries mean we do a lot of Wait & Load and permit work here.

If your terrace has no driveway, we can arrange a St Helens Borough Council permit, or bring the wagon, wait while you load and take it straight away — no permit, no skip sat outside for a fortnight.

We know St Helens well enough to be useful about it — the roads round the World of Glass, the Dream sculpture, Sankey Valley Park and the Totally Wicked Stadium included. That is not marketing; it is the difference between a wagon that fits down your street and one that has to reverse back out of it.

Which skip size for your St Helens job?

Four sizes cover almost everything we get asked for in St Helens. The most common mistake is going too small, so if you are torn between two, the bigger one is nearly always cheaper than hiring twice:

  • 2 yard mini — around 20 to 25 bin bags. The one for a tight driveway, a bathroom refit or a small garden tidy.
  • 4 yard midi — around 35 to 45 bin bags, and comfortably our most requested size. Kitchens, garages, part clearances, general household waste.
  • 6 yard builders — around 55 to 65 bags and built for weight. This is the one for soil, brick, rubble, tile and roofing waste.
  • 8 yard maxi — around 70 to 80 bags. Maximum volume for bulky light waste: renovations, shop and office clearances, fit-out waste. Not the one for hardcore.

Not sure? Ring us and describe the job. It takes two minutes and we have sized enough skips in St Helens to get it right over the phone.

Where we deliver in and around St Helens

Our St Helens round takes in Thatto Heath, Eccleston, Sutton, Parr, Windle, Haydock, Billinge, Moss Bank and Dentons Green — and if you are just outside that list, ring us anyway, because we are almost certainly passing.

The postcodes we serve here are WA9, WA10, WA11. You are around 11 miles from our yard, so a small mileage charge applies beyond our free 10-mile radius. It is calculated from your actual postcode and shown on screen before you pay — no surprises.

What can and cannot go in the skip

Most non-hazardous waste is fine: wood, metal, furniture, cardboard, plastics, general household waste, green waste, soil, hardcore, brick, rubble, tiles and packaging. Mix it as you like — it gets sorted at the transfer station.

Two things need mentioning when you book rather than after the fact. Plasterboard has to be kept separate from general waste under environmental regulations. Mattresses can go in, but carry a separate disposal charge because the processing facilities charge us extra for them.

What genuinely cannot go in: asbestos, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, liquid paint, chemicals, oils and fuels, batteries, tyres, fridges and freezers, and clinical waste. Fridges we will still take away — just as a separate collection, because the degassing has to be done properly.

Do I need a skip permit in St Helens?

If your skip is going on your own driveway or land in St Helens, you do not need a permit and there is nothing to arrange. If it has to sit on a public road or pavement, St Helens Borough Council needs to issue a permit first, and the skip needs lights and markings. We handle that application for you as part of the booking — you do not need to work out which department to contact.

Permit lead times vary between councils, so give us a few working days where you can. If a permit is not practical — a narrow street, heavy parking pressure, a conservation area — our Wait & Load service avoids the issue completely: the skip never leaves the wagon, so there is nothing to apply for.

How quickly can you get to St Helens?

Around twenty-five minutes from the yard via the A570 or through Rainhill. Next-day is realistic almost every time, and same-day is often possible if you ring early and we have a wagon heading your way.

Online bookings run from tomorrow onwards so we can keep today free for short-notice calls. If you need something today, the phone is quicker than the form: 01928 618168.

Questions

Skip hire in St Helens: your questions

Local answers — the council that covers St Helens, what delivery costs from our yard, and how quickly we can get to you.

92% Of everything we collect is sorted and kept out of landfill.

Still not sure?

Describe the job and we will tell you which size, or whether a skip is even the right answer. No obligation, no sales patter.

Only if it is going on a public road or pavement. On your own driveway or land, no permit is needed. For road placements, St Helens Borough Council issues the permit and we apply on your behalf as part of the booking. Give us a few working days where you can, as lead times vary.

Prices start from £135 for a 2 yard and depend on the size you choose. St Helens sits around 11 miles from our yard, so a small per-mile charge applies beyond our free 10-mile radius — it is worked out from your postcode and shown before you pay. Enter your postcode in the booking form for an exact figure including any extras.

All of it, plus the surrounding villages — Thatto Heath, Eccleston, Sutton, Parr, Windle, Haydock, Billinge and Moss Bank and the rest. The postcodes we serve here are WA9, WA10, WA11.

Sometimes. St Helens is around 11 miles out, so it depends on whether we already have a wagon heading that way. Ring early and we will give you a straight answer rather than a maybe. Online bookings start from tomorrow so we can keep today's capacity for short-notice calls.

Up to 14 days as standard, which covers most projects comfortably. Finished early? Ring us and we will collect sooner. Need longer? Just say — extensions are usually straightforward and we will tell you the cost before you commit.

Then Wait & Load is almost certainly the answer. We bring the skip on the wagon, you load it while we wait, and it leaves with us. No permit, nothing sat on the street, and the job is finished the same visit. It is the option most of our customers on terraced streets end up choosing.

Yes. We are registered waste carriers and we issue a waste transfer note for every load. That matters more than people realise: under the duty of care rules, waste from your St Helens property remains traceable to you until it reaches a licensed facility. It is always worth checking the licence of anyone you use.

Two ways to clear it
